Halloween: The Game Challenges

There are three different Challenge systems. Choose the one you are working on.

No combined total is shown on purpose. A Story Challenge, a Passive milestone and a Progressive task are counted at different levels and do not add up to one meaningful number.

Problem Solver

Why Didn't My Challenge Count?

Pick the Challenge system you were working on. Each one fails for different reasons.

Which type was it?

Story Challenge Didn't Count?

Check the listed conditions first. A missed requirement and a possible tracking problem are not the same thing.

  1. 1Right chapter?
  2. 2Correct target?
  3. 3Correct execution?
  4. 4Correct weapon?
  5. 5Required condition?
  6. 6Did the action register?
  1. Step 1

Confirm it is a Story Challenge

    • 1. Exact required target
    • 2. Required weapon / execution
    • 3. Current Story opportunity
    • 4. Whole-chapter conditions
    • 5. Whether the action completed before the objective changed
  2. Step 2

Open the Challenge you were going for

Each Challenge page lists what counts, then what to check if it still does not register.

Check these first

  • Requirement mismatch

A similar action is not the one this Challenge asks for.

  • Wrong weapon

The Challenge needs a specific weapon.

  • Wrong execution

A context execution is not the same as a weapon cinematic execution.

  • Detection / alert condition

An NPC may already be in an alert state.

  • Timing / target condition

It has to happen to the named person, or during a specific stage.

  • Possible game tracking issue

Only after the listed conditions are met. Do not assume a bug first.

Passive Challenges

Passive Challenges progress automatically while you play and do not need to be selected as an active challenge.

  1. 1Which side of the game is this family on?
  2. 2Read the exact requirement, not a similar one.
  3. 3Is a player level required?
  4. 4Confirm the action the counter records.
  5. 5Progress looks unchanged right after the action.

Progressive Challenge Not Progressing?

Progressive problems are usually a chain problem, not a missing objective. Check these before assuming a bug.

  1. 1

    The exact subject

The chain only advances with the specific Civilian, Michael variant or weapon it belongs to.

  2. 2

    The previous task

A later task does not count while the one before it is still open.

  3. 3

    The exact tracked action

A similar action is not the tracked one. Match the task requirement exactly.

  4. 4

    Tasks that are not active

A small number of tasks are not active in the released version, so they never progress. They are not listed here.

Some Progressive Challenges have had reported problems that later updates addressed. That is a reason to re-check the subject, the previous task and the exact action — not a guarantee that every task will register.

Prestige Challenges

Prestige uses its own tier-specific challenge pools. These are separate from Passive, Progressive and Story Challenges.

Still not counting?

If every listed condition is met, this may be a tracking problem rather than a missed requirement. Check you are on game version 1.0.2 and retry only if you want to rule out a failed trigger.

See Challenge tracking status →

Reverse lookup

Looking for a Reward?

Find which Challenge unlocks an item or cosmetic, then jump back to the Challenge that grants it.

  • Try:
  • Story Challenges ·78 rewards
  • Passive Challenges ·229 rewards
  • Progressive Challenges ·338 rewards

Reward> requirement > Challenge works in both directions. A reward result names the family, milestone or task that grants it, and links back to that Challenge.

Patch1.0.2 · Sep 11, 2026
  • Story Challenge tracking improved in 1.0.2

The update fixed known tracking issues including Prologue Challenge 6 and Main Street Challenge 6. IllFonic also corrected The Babysitters Challenge 2 and Into the Shadows Challenge 1, and says further Challenge messaging improvements are planned.

  • Passive, Progressive and Prestige tracking received fixes

Several progression blockers were corrected in 1.0.2, Prestige Challenges were re-enabled, and IllFonic says it continues monitoring Challenge issues.

Recent players have continued reporting some tracking problems. Use that as a reason to check the listed conditions and the current game version — not as proof that every failed Challenge is a bug.

Looking for Prestige Challenges?

Prestige uses its own tier-specific challenge pools. These are separate from Passive, Progressive and Story Challenges.

Prestige draws a limited selection from a confirmed pool at each tier. Prestige Challenges are not counted as part of the three Challenge systems above.

710 confirmed Prestige Challenges across all tiers.

Challenges & Achievements

Some Achievements require Challenge completion or are tied to broader progression goals, but an Achievement is not a Challenge.

Separate systems

The three Challenge systems track their own progress. Achievements are a different checklist, even when the requirement overlaps.
