Weapon Comparison

Halloween Weapon Comparison

Compare two weapons by damage, Stamina cost, Daze, Bleed, Force, Story availability and confirmed Challenge requirements — without combining unrelated mechanics into a fake score.

Compare Two Weapons

What matters most to you?

Showing every stat. No combined score — the values measure different things.

Quick Decision

Each line is one mechanic. Winning three rows is not an overall win.

Named requirement

Use the Wood Axe if you are doingReturning Home · Challenge 5. That Challenge names this weapon. Stat advantages on the other weapon do not replace it.

Weapon A

Pick-Axe

Pick-Axe advantage

  • higher damage per hit
  • stronger Daze
  • stronger Force

Weapon B

Wood Axe

Wood Axe advantage

  • lower stamina cost

Same:Attack Power and Bleed.

There is no overall winner — choose based on the mechanic you care about.

What Changes the Decision?

Read each row on its own. Do not add the rows into a score.

Compare All Melee Weapons by One Stat

Each list ranks one mechanic only. These lists are not an overall ranking.

Highest Average Damage per Hit

Average damage per hit across this weapon’s attacks.

  1. 1103Pick-Axe
  2. 2100.4Wood Axe
  3. 377Broken Bat, Broken Bottle, Fire Poker, Kitchen Knife

Lowest Average Stamina Cost per Attack

Average stamina per attack. Lower is cheaper to swing.

  1. 110Broken Axe, Hatchet, Meat Cleaver
  2. 211.7Nightstick, Pipe Wrench, Sharp Pool Cue
  3. 315Broken Bat, Broken Bottle, Fire Poker, Kitchen Knife

Strongest Daze

Highest Daze buildup on a single hit, among melee weapons that inflict it.

  1. 150Sledgehammer
  2. 235Baseball Bat
  3. 325Pipe Wrench

Strongest Force

Highest Force buildup on a single hit, among melee weapons that inflict it.

  1. 1125Sledgehammer
  2. 2100Baseball Bat, Nightstick, Pick-Axe, Pipe Wrench
  3. 385Broken Bat, Broken Bottle, Fire Poker, Kitchen Knife

Ties are grouped into a single rank — a list can hold more weapons than it has ranks. The “higher than N of M” count uses only weapons that have that stat, not every weapon in the game. Firearms are not ranked against melee weapons because the values are not comparable. Bleed is omitted here because every melee weapon that inflicts Bleed shares the same value.

How to Read Weapon Stats

Damage on hit
Direct hit property. Shown as the arithmetic average across this weapon’s attack moves. That is not the damage of every hit. The full range is listed separately and is not ranked as a winner.
Attack power
A separate combat property from damage on hit. The two are never added into a single total.
Stamina per attack
This is stamina cost per attack. Lower is better only for this row.
Daze / Bleed / Force
Three separate combat effects. They are not damage, and they are never added together.
Does not apply
This weapon does not inflict that effect. That is not the same as a recorded 0, and it is not a missing value filled in.
The “higher than N of M” line
How many other melee weapons that use this stat this weapon beats. Ties are common, which is why the page does not use a #1 label. M is the weapons that have the stat, not the full roster.

Weapon Comparison FAQ

Which weapon is best overall?
This tool does not assign an overall winner. Damage, Stamina, Daze, Bleed, Force and other properties measure different systems, so they are compared separately.
Is Attack Power added to Damage?
No. They are independent combat properties.
Are Daze, Bleed and Force extra damage?
Do not read them that way. They are separate combat effects and are not added to direct damage.
Why is lower Stamina better?
This row is Stamina cost per attack. A lower cost means each attack spends less Stamina.
Why can’t I compare a firearm directly with a melee weapon?
Those values are not modeled as the same melee metrics. The tool will still compare type, availability and Challenge use, but it will not rank firearm numbers against melee numbers.
Does a Challenge requiring a weapon mean that’s where I pick it up?
No. A Challenge that names a weapon proves it can be used in that chapter. It does not confirm the pickup location. Pitchfork is required in Into the Shadows, but that does not reuse the Main Street Hardware Store pickup.
Does more weapon executions mean a stronger weapon?
No. Execution variant count is cinematic coverage, not a combat stat.
What is Weapon Level?
Weapon Level is a progression category for a specific equipable weapon. Progress comes from kills with that weapon and can unlock progression rewards. It is not treated here as extra base damage.
